Recently, someone in my life questioned the decisions I’ve made about how I’m raising my son—and other aspects of my life. This wasn’t the first time they’ve done this. They say they care about me, but instead of showing trust, they question everything.
“Was moving to Costa Rica the smartest thing?” they asked.
To all the mothers out there: never doubt your instincts. That question left me paralyzed because no matter how I responded, their reaction made my heart sink. I explained that my son thrives in Costa Rica, that he’s happiest here—but it didn’t seem to matter.
I felt angry. I felt defeated. I knew nothing I said would make sense to them.
But then something else stirred in me: the lioness in my heart began to grow.
As mothers, we know what’s best for our children. We feel it in our bones. When we make bold decisions for their well-being, especially radical ones, and those decisions turn out to be exactly what was needed, we’re reminded of the power of our intuition.
Life is meant to be lived wild and free. The idea of living a “normal” life has expired in this day and age. The world is shifting, and clinging to outdated ways of living only keeps us from truly experiencing the beauty of life.
Don’t let anyone discourage you from following your heart, even if they think you should live their way—or the only way they know. Most people are too afraid to step outside their comfort zones, and that’s okay. But that’s not how I live.
If you feel drawn to live differently, do it. Don’t let anyone’s opinions hold you back.
Following your intuition leads to the greatest adventures and experiences of your life. Living differently isn’t for everyone. Some people are content in their bubbles. But for people like me—and maybe for people like you—it’s in our nature to pop that bubble and explore what’s on the other side.
To live differently is the only way I know how. No one can contain me. I will always follow my intuition because I know it’s my greatest, most sacred superpower.
