If you clicked on this blog, chances are you’re in a phase of life where you feel disconnected from your purpose—or maybe you’re not even sure what your purpose is in the first place. Either way, welcome. You’re not alone.
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably asking two big questions: Why is finding my purpose so important? and What does it have to do with happiness?
Here’s my take: once you connect to your purpose, you ignite your passion. And when you’re living in alignment with your passion, you’re stepping into who you truly are. That’s when life gets clear. Suddenly, you’re on fire for something—driven, unstoppable. But let’s be real: purpose doesn’t just show up with zero challenges. Oh no, it shows up with a side of resistance because, let’s face it, what doesn’t challenge you won’t change you. And change? That’s your ticket to growth.
Rule #1: Don’t Let Others Define Your Dream
When I became an EMT and a massage therapist, my family was thrilled. It was stable, safe, and steady—the only way for their generation. But when I told them I wanted to be a stuntwoman, my grandfather called it ridiculous and told me I’d fail. He even warned he wouldn’t help me if I fell flat. Ouch, right?
Fast forward 14 years. I’ve worked on over 100 movies, TV shows, and commercials. I’ve made more money and had WAY more fun than most of my college-grad friends chasing their “safe” dream jobs. Why? Because I didn’t let his fear become mine.
Sure, his rejection stung. But deep down, I had this unshakable knowing: I could do it. Explaining that to him? Impossible. So I didn’t. Instead, I said, “Just trust me.” And then, I went out and proved him wrong—not for him, but for me.
“Rejection is projection in the right direction”
Here’s the thing: rejection isn’t the end of the road. It’s a redirection toward where you’re meant to go. If I’d listened to him, I wouldn’t have followed my passion, and I would’ve been miserable. Moral of the story: never let someone else’s doubt define your destiny because it’s going to stop you from reaching your full potential.
Reinventing Myself: The Next Chapter
A few years ago, I started feeling the tug—the sense that my stunt career was winding down and a new chapter was calling. Spoiler alert: the Universe was already working behind the scenes.
Here’s the funny thing about reinvention: it’s not about finding something new. It’s about remembering who you really are.
We all build identities around what we do—whether it’s “stuntwoman” or “pro football player” or “CEO.” But those are just chapters, not the whole book. When one chapter ends, it’s time to write the next.
For me, that next chapter began when I hit rock bottom (again). Let’s be honest—rock bottom isn’t a one-time thing; it’s more like a trampoline. You can either let it flatten you or use it to bounce back stronger.
Through meditation, self-reflection, and a whole lot of messy growth, I realized I was ready to let go of the title “stuntwoman” and embrace something new. That clarity led me to move out of the country, dive into self-discovery (again!), and start living a life that felt true to the next version of me.
So, Now What?
If you’re standing at the edge of reinvention, here’s my advice: Follow your passions and trust the process.
What lights you up? What comes naturally to you? What have you always wanted to do but felt scared to try?
Listen to that voice—it’s your compass. And remember, the hardest part of this whole journey is trusting the process. But once you do, life has a way of surprising you with opportunities you never saw coming.
At the end of the day, reinvention is about peeling back the layers that no longer serve you and stepping into the person you’re meant to be. It’s not always easy, but trust me—it’s worth it.
So, go ahead: chase your dreams, trust your gut, and don’t let anyone put you in a box. Your next chapter is waiting. Make it wild, beautiful, and uniquely yours.
