Animal Rescue: My Passion

One of my deepest passions is helping animals in need. I fell in love with rescuing when I was 11 years old, volunteering at an animal shelter in Los Angeles. Now, decades later, I'm still taking in and rehabilitating everything from domestic pets to wildlife. Over the years, I’ve cared for squirrels, opossums, baby deer, pigs, bunnies, and countless dogs and cats. For me, there’s no greater reward than transforming an animal’s life through love and compassion.
I am so focused on serving these creatures that while on location for movies, I’ve even picked up stray dogs and kittens, sneaking them into my hotel room. In Costa Rica, I’ve rescued over four dozen (and counting) dogs and cats off the streets. One time, I even hid a dying baby chicken in my costume at work because I couldn’t bear for it to pass away alone. My dedication to animals knows no limits.
This passion was naturally passed down to my son. He's been surrounded by animals since he was a baby. It’s completely normal for him to come home to a newborn squirrel nestled in my shirt to stay warm or a baby deer in our bathroom. Nothing shocks him. One day in Costa Rica, he leapt out of our Jeep, ran into the jungle, and returned with a near-dead puppy. Watching his compassionate heart grow makes me so proud as a mom, knowing that my passion has inspired him to help those in need is truly rewarding. If we don’t help, who will?

Charlie's Angels Costa Rica

I’ve also had the privilege of partnering with an incredible rescue in Costa Rica called Charlie’s Angels. Founded by Tania, this organization has rehomed hundreds of dogs across Costa Rica and North America. Tania’s work is unstoppable and selfless. I first connected with her after rescuing a pregnant street dog, and without hesitation, Tania offered to help. Thanks to her, the puppies found wonderful homes, and Mama Dog found her forever family as well.

Tania and I have become close friends. She runs Charlie’s Angels on her own, and seeing her incredible dedication firsthand has inspired me to support her however I can. Below is a link to her website where you can donate, sponsor a dog, or adopt. If we all work together to spread the word to get more animals off the streets, spayed and neutered, and into loving homes, there will be a lot less suffering in the world.

By working together, we can create a world where every animal is safe, loved, and cared for.
